Paramount Global’s free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) platform Pluto TV has inked a robust partnership with France’s M6 that involves strategies across content, editorial and advertising sales.

As part of the pact, M6 will launch a dedicated Pluto TV section within its M6 Plus (stylized as M6+) platform with 12 FAST channels from Pluto TV, while Pluto TV will launch several M6-branded content streams on the French version of its service.

M6 Plus users will get access to content from Paramount’s library and its licensed shows and movies, including “Yu-Gi-Oh!,” “Olive et Tom,” “MTV Classics” and “Blue Bloods,” while Pluto TV users will see M6 content like “Turbo,” “Mes Mareillais,” “Zone Interdite” and “Les reines du shopping,” the companies said.

Additionally, the two companies will work together on various advertising sales initiatives geared toward the connected TV market, with M6 serving as the official advertising partner for Pluto TV in the country. As its advertising partner, M6 will be able to sell advertising inventory within Pluto TV’s content streams available to French users, the companies said. Paramount Advertising will also continue to sell against Pluto TV.

“The free ad-supported streaming industry is thriving internationally. As a leader in this space, we understand the value of partnering with key local entities, especially in competitive markets like France,” Olivier Jollet, the Executive Vice President and International General Manager at Pluto TV, said in a statement on Tuesday. “Building on our successful collaborations across multiple markets, we are now expanding our FAST business with M6.”

Jollet said M6 “stands out as an ideal partner, offering a powerful platform, beloved content, a large consumer base, and strong expertise in ad sales.” Launched earlier this year, M6 Plus is used by over 26 million unique households in France, according to data released by the broadcaster.

“By combining their strong presence in France with our FAST capabilities, we aim to create a dynamic and innovative model for the industry and consumers in France, as well as a blueprint for other markets,” Jollet affirmed.

“As a pioneer in digital television in France, Groupe M6 is accelerating its transformation with the ambitious M6 Plus plan, in response to the growing digital consumption of our content,” Henri de Fontaines, Groupe M6’s executive in charge of strategy, streaming and distribution, said in a statement. “Launched successfully in May 2024 with a catalog from the group’s iconic brands, our AVOD platform is also a prime destination for top global audiovisual franchises. We’re thrilled about our ambitious partnership with Pluto TV, which allows us to offer even more must-see content to our users.”

Drawing from the strength of Pluto TV in France and other markets, de Fontaines said Groupe M6 sees its partnership with Paramount “as a chance to align with a key player and hope it will strengthen over time.”

“Commercially, this partnership boosts M6 Publicité’s position in the French market, providing advertisers with even more attractive and complementary solutionsm,” he affirmed.
