Comcast’s presentation of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games drew more than 35 million viewers to NBC, Comcast-owned cable channels and Peacock on Sunday, according to data from Nielsen and Adobe Analytics.
The audience figure was more than double the 17.4 million people who tuned in to watch some or all of the 2020 Summer Olympic Games from Tokyo on a comparable Sunday, the network said in a statement. The 2020 Summer Olympic Games were also streamed on Peacock; the event was delayed to 2021 due to the coronavirus health pandemic, and many competitions did not feature public crowds.
Including the Opening Ceremony on July 26, NBC said its 10-day audience average was 33 million per day, with most watching on NBC’s broadcast and cable networks.
Sunday’s coverage of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games was streamed by 4.5 million viewers on Peacock and other NBC digital platforms, the network affirmed, citing data from Adobe Analytics.
NBC holds the domestic telecast rights to the Summer Olympic and Winter Olympic Games through 2032.
