Frontier is introducing a new self-installation kit that will allow subscribers of its fiber Internet product to connect their service without a visit from an installer, the company said on Thursday.

The kit will include everything a customer needs to quickly install and connect to Frontier’s Internet service, and is offered as an option for subscribers whose schedules may not allow for a break to welcome a technician into their homes, the company affirmed.

Self-installation kits also “frees us up to expand access to our fiber internet to more homes and businesses,” a Frontier spokesperson said in a statement, which suggests Frontier may shift its resources from technicians toward engineers and laborers who can build out and maintain its network.

Customers who utilize Frontier’s self-installation kit will get a step-by-step instructional guide on setting up and activating their service, along with access to an in-app connection speed test service and around-the-clock customer support via live chat.

“We get it: People are busy — that’s why we are giving our customers the choice to skip a technician appointment and install our high-speed fiber internet when it works best for their schedule,” said John Harrobin, the Executive Vice President of Consumer at Frontier. “Self-installation offers convenience for our customers and increased efficiency to our business as we connect more people across the country to our fiber internet.”

Customers can learn more about the self-installation kit by visiting the Frontier website.

Frontier reaches around 6.8 million total locations across the United States, and counts more than 2.97 million broadband subscribers across its footprint.
