DirecTV will launch a new portal next month that offers real-time election results and allows subscribers to watch coverage from four news channels at once.
The portal, called “Election HQ,” will serve as a testing ground for a future multiview feature that will roll out on DirecTV’s connected services, DirecTV Stream and DirecTV via Internet, a spokesperson confirmed to The Desk this week.
Election HQ will launch on November 4, and include real-time election results for the U.S. House, U.S. Senate and White House races, with data provided by the Associated Press. It will also include a quad-box that allows subscribers to watch live coverage from Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and Newsmax from a single screen.
Customers of DirecTV via Satellite with Internet-connected set-top boxes will be able to access Election HQ on Channel 71 and Channel 200. Subscribers who have DirecTV Stream or DirecTV via Internet will need a Gemini or Gemini Air device to access Election HQ, which will be accessible by pressing the “Apps” button on the remote, then choosing the “Election HQ” tile from the “Featured Apps” row.
